Where the tide
meets the table.
Maree — French for tide.
Downtown Spring Lake's first neighborhood bistro and bar. Seasonal American fare, French-influenced, locally sourced. Built inside the former Wells Fargo building, original bank vault and all.
A 100-year-old bank vault.
Now your wine locker.
When Marilyn and Bret took over the former Wells Fargo building at 1123 3rd Avenue, they found something extraordinary: a massive original bank vault, iron door intact, perfectly preserved.
The vault is being transformed into the centerpiece of Maree's Wine Locker Program: a private, climate-controlled cellar where members store their wine with an engraved nameplate and concierge service.
Only 12 locker memberships are available. Your name on a piece of Spring Lake history.
Reserve Your LockerThe Cheers she has been describing for thirty years.
After 40 years of building restaurants up and down the Jersey Shore, Marilyn thought Whitechapel Projects might be her last chapter. Then she took a consulting job with Faherty Clothing in Spring Lake, and the bug came back.
She saw what Spring Lake was becoming — a town waking up, with nobody having built the neighborhood restaurant it deserved.
On a trip to France she had the meal that sealed it: grilled fish, garlic, a baked potato, a bottle of rosé in a tiny bistro south of Biarritz. Simple. Perfect. The kind of food that connects you to a place.
She came home and called Bret Morgan. Maree was born.
"I think Spring Lake has been missing this kind of community spot with that Cheers feeling where you know everybody and the staff knows you."
